ASTRIXX Computer Science Association

The ASTRIXX Computer Science Association is dedicated to fostering skills that are highly sought after in the industry and bolstering the confidence of students as they prepare to enter the workforce. Through the implementation of diverse activities organized by various specialized clubs within the association, our overarching objective is to facilitate student engagement with industry experts. These activities include webinars, workshops, and other initiatives aimed at providing students with additional knowledge and transforming the learning process into an enjoyable experience.

The clubs within our association are strategically designed to create a conducive environment for peer learning, fostering the acquisition of various skills without the imposition of undue pressure. Our clubs, spanning areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Fullstack Web Development, Robotics, Cybersecurity and Women in Engineering are tailored to cater to the multifaceted needs of our student community. Through these specialized avenues, we aim to empower students with practical insights and hands-on experiences that will prove invaluable in their professional journey.

In 2022, the department witnessed the initiation of “ASTRIXX” with a grand inauguration ceremony

featuring Rajesh P.S, Chief Operating Officer,Known-Up Knowledge Foundation, as the chief guest. The event, presided over by Principal Dr. L Padmasuresh, saw the participation of key dignitaries, including Director Rev. Fr. Thomas Varghese, Vice Principal Dr. Madhusoodanan Pillai, Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Koshy Vaidyan, and Head of Department Prof. Dennise Mathew.


DEPARTMENT OF CSE IN ASSOCIATION WITH DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION CLUB ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA SCIENCE TWO DAYS HANDS-ON WORKSHOP ON MACHINE LEARNUNG USING PYTHON

Department of CSE in association with Department association Club ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA SCIENCE CLUB organized Two days hands-on workshop on Machine Learning using Python on August 18 th and 19 th 2023 to brush up the minds of students. The workshop started at 9.00 AM. The meeting was attended by final year students and faculties of the CSE department.

The session was handled by Prof. Sumod Sundar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Artificial Intelligence TKM College of Engineering who have a total of 15 years of experience and doing his PhD in Machine Learning at VIT. He explained about the basics of machine learning, different types of machine learning, how datasets are trained in machine learning, how different datasets are used in machine learning, how different machine learning algorithm are trained using python etc

By the end of the session, students were able to familiarize themselves with how different machine learning algorithm are trained using python

The Computer Science Department's Association Day 2023 was held on October 18, 2023. The event was inaugurated by our esteemed Principal, Dr. L. PadmaSuresh.

TThe office bearers for the association were announced during this event. To commemorate the inauguration, a technical session on machine learning was conducted for third and second-year students. This auspicious occasion was further enriched by cultural events prepared and participated in by the students.

The CSE association, ASTRIXX, at Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering, Sasthamkotta, hosted a thrilling coding competition called CODE FRENZY on Saturday, April 6th. Enthusiastic students from the college gathered at the Programming & Database Lab to showcase their coding skills and problem-solving abilities through engaging challenges. The competition, spearheaded by faculty coordinators Assistant Professor Anju Elsa Koshy and Dr. Gouri MS, along with student coordinator Janson V Johnson, provided a collaborative environment where participants not only competed but also learned from each other. The event fostered camaraderie among the CSE community and raised awareness about the exciting world of coding competitions.

Thanks to the dedication of the organizing team, the supportive environment created by ASTRIXX, and the active participation of students, CODE FRENZY was a resounding success. The event not only honed the coding skills of participants but also identified top performers who were recognized and rewarded with prizes .

A special thanks goes to the management of Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering, Sasthamkotta, for their unwavering support in making CODE FRENZY possible. Their guidance and encouragement were instrumental in the event's success.

The Cyber Security Club, ASTRIXX, at Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering, Sasthamkotta, organized a hands-on workshop titled "Exploring Linux and its Tools" on Saturday, 23 March. Led by Akhil Sam Varghese, the workshop aimed to introduce participants to Linux and its various tools through practical exercises.

Enthusiastic students from the college gathered at the designated venue to delve into the world of Linux. The workshop provided a conducive environment for participants to gain hands-on experience and learn about the fundamentals of Linux operating system and its versatile tools. Through the guidance of Akhil Sam Varghese and the collaborative atmosphere fostered by ASTRIXX, participants were able to explore different aspects of Linux, including command-line navigation, file management, and basic scripting. The workshop encouraged active participation and knowledge sharing among attendees, contributing to a vibrant learning experience.

Thanks to the dedication of the organizing team, the supportive environment created by ASTRIXX, and the leadership of Akhil Sam Varghese, the workshop on "Exploring Linux and its Tools" was a notable success. Participants not only gained practical skills in using Linux but also developed a deeper understanding of its significance in the realm of cyber security and computing.
